Reporting to the Manager, Residential Legal Counsel, the ideal candidate will be an experienced lawyer/notary who is highly professional; client-focused; understands real estate conveyancing/title issues and routinely deals with complex real estate matters.

Primary Responsibilities:



Review of title insurance orders for accuracy and quality control Assist underwriters in the analysis of difficult or complicated files - review and analyze title opinions, title/off title searches and/or supporting documentation while applying the Company's underwriting principles and guidelines Review private lender files Communicate with clients to explain policy coverage/answer challenging inquiries Perform legal research, often national in scope Participate in the development and review of guidelines and procedures Develop and update internal and external educational materials Attend real estate and title insurance industry functions

Qualifications:



Law degree and member of the Law Society of Ontario (LSO) Minimum two (2) years of Residential Real Estate experience Understanding of real estate conveyancing and real estate law Strong verbal and written communication skills Team player who works well under pressure with minimal supervision Proven ability to develop working relationships at multiple levels of an organization Self-directed and motivated Strong organizational and time management skill Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Willingness to work overtime when required French language is an asset
