Job Description


We are looking for a Legal Counsel to join the Bridgestone Mobility Solutions legal team that supports the technology division of Bridgestone. The team in Amsterdam consists of three senior legal counsels, an IP counsel and DPO/digital trust manager and the Head of Legal. This team is part of the BSEMIA legal team and Bridgestone Corporation global Legal Department. This means you will join an EMIA team of 40+ attorneys based in 12 countries and will become part of a global legal community of more than two hundred Legal & IP teammates, who are constantly looking for ways to share best practices and align their way of working across the globe. In this position you will closely work together with the Bridgestone Mobility Solutions\xe2\x80\x99 business stakeholders from different (internationally based) departments, such as sales, marketing, operations, IT, providing pragmatic legal advice. Bridgestone Mobility Solutions needs someone with experience drafting and negotiating (international) commercial contracts, preferably in the technology industry and SaaS. Because data is at the core of Bridgestone Mobility Solutions\xe2\x80\x99 business, you will also need some knowledge of privacy laws to support the sales teams to help close commercial deals. You will also provide general legal advice to the supportive functions (HR, IT, Marketing, Operations and Finance) and be responsible for managing the corporate legal work for the Bridgestone Mobility Solutions group entities, together with the shared service center. We just issued a new Legal department mission statement emphasizing, amongst others, our Focus on What Matters to ensure we provide the right level of service to our clients in fields and ways we add the most value. In that light, we have also set up a global shared services center in India to handle recurrent and less critical support requests. In this role, you will be a key driver of our efforts to make our department more agile and aligned to focus on what matters. Who are you? While there is no definite mould that our successful candidate needs to fit into, this is the kind of profile we have in mind:

  • Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in law with a minimum of 3 years of PQE, ideally gained at an international reputable law firm and/or in an in-house IT/Tech environment;
  • A good grasp of technology industry and relevant trends;
  • The ability to draft and negotiate a wide variety of (tech) agreements, including Data Protection Agreements;
  • Ability to find practical, pragmatic and creative solutions to compliance issues;
  • Pro-actively facilitate completion of corporate tasks, relating to headquarters entities and their subsidiaries, being undertaking by shared services center;
  • Design and implement policies and procedures to provide legal services more effectively to the business and/or address compliance-related concerns or needs;
  • Good commercial awareness and a pragmatic, solutions-oriented, point of view;
  • Strong values in line with Bridgestone\xe2\x80\x99s behavioral expectations (= Ownership, Agility and Courage);
  • Ability to work effectively with teammates at all levels of the organization, and in a matrixed work environment;
  • High level of business and personal ethics.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills in English;
