The University of Guelph is seeking a collaborative lawyer to join its team as Legal Counsel. Reporting to the General Counsel, the successful candidate will work across a broad variety of commercial matters including advising on commercial and IT contracts, real estate and procurement matters, human rights, and charitable donations. The Legal Counsel will act as a key advisor to departments across the University, providing practical advice on risk and policy matters. This role will suit a results-oriented lawyer with the ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment who can effectively manage several projects simultaneously.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience with corporate/commercial matters and, ideally, experience advising clients in the public sector on procurement, real estate, and/or construction matters. Exposure to human rights, administrative law, or privacy matters would be considered an asset. This is an exceptional opportunity for a candidate with excellent judgement and strong communication skills to join a collegial team and work on complex and varied matters.
