This position is responsible for providing effective and efficient legal support to ConocoPhillips\xe2\x80\x99 operations in Canada.This role is based out of Calgary, on a Monday to Friday, optional hybrid office schedule.Responsibilities:The responsibilities will include, but not limited to, the following:providing legal support and advice forclaims/litigation, administrative law, commercial, regulatory and strategic planning issues that may affect the Company, especially in relation to agreements and other arrangements commonly used in the upstream oil & gas business, including mineral and surface tenure, supply chain and construction management, seismic surveys and licenses, drilling, production and joint venture operations, royalties, production processing and disposition, transportation and sales, acquisitions and divestitures, and other transactional documents; drafting, reviewing and negotiating legal agreements involving current operations, regulatory compliance and new business opportunities;environmental, sustainable development, indigenous relations, regulatory, and occupational health and safety matters.human resource/personnel, pension, privacy matters and compliance and ethics matters; andcorporate secretarial matters.Where necessary and appropriate, managing outside legal resources in support of Company matters.Collaborating with senior management and operations and functional support personnel, including participation in project and asset teams.Representing the Company in external contacts with other parties including industry organizations, co-venturers, agencies, and outside counsel as required; andParticipating on the relevant incident management/emergency response team, including attending training and annual exercises/drills and providing legal support when called to an incident/event response.Required Qualifications:Legally authorized to work in Canada on a regular full-time basis without restrictionsLL.B. or J.D. degree from a Canadian law schoolCalled to the bar in in Alberta, or a jurisdiction that grants reciprocity with AlbertaMinimum of seven years full time experience practicing energy law, environmental law, regulatory law, corporate law, commercial law and/or supply chain lawAbility to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, manage and prioritize assignments which may be broad in scope and complexity, exercise balanced legal and business judgment, and represent the Company before external stakeholdersAbility to establish professional credibility with Company client groups, legal team and senior managementAbility to efficiently learn, apply and monitor compliance with Company policies and proceduresPreferred Qualifications:5+ years of direct experience in oil and gas law (upstream and midstream)3+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience with Alberta law or federal law specific to Alberta, relevant to the upstream and midstream oil and gas industry3+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in practice before federal or Alberta provincial regulatory agencies and courtsAbility to work under minimal supervisionStrong initiative along with excellent communication and analytical skillsAbility to handle multiple projects and work in a team environmentTakes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by courageously dealing with important problems, holding others accountable and standing up for what is right.Generates effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethicalListens actively and invites dialogue for shared understanding, then influences and acts to drive performance and achieve resultsBuilds strong relationships based on trust and seeks collaboration across organizational boundaries to achieve goalsTo be considered for this position you must complete the entire application process, which includes answering all prescreening questions and providing your eSignature on or before the requisition closing date.Current employees: Please ensure you have discussed your intent to apply with your current supervisor prior to applying for any internal position.For information on our Sustainable Development performance in Canada, visit .ConocoPhillips is an Equal Opportunity Employer.Apply Before: August 29, 2024Sponsorship: ConocoPhillips\xe2\x80\x99 sponsorship for employment authorization in the country where this job is located is NOT available for this position.EEO: ConocoPhillips is an equal opportunity employer.
