Job Description


Our client located in Guelph, ON is looking to add a Law Clerk to their growing team! You will play a crucial role in supporting our legal team in providing exceptional legal services to our clients. You will assist in various aspects of family law cases, from legal research and document preparation to client communication and case management. This CONTRACT position has potential for to go full-time permanent for the right candidate!

You will be responsible for:

-Document Preparation: Draft and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, affidavits, and agreements, ensuring they adhere to court rules and guidelines.

-Case Management: Assist in organizing and maintaining case files, including client documents, court filings, and correspondence, to ensure accurate and efficient case progression.

-Client Interaction: Communicate with clients, schedule appointments, and maintain strong client relationships by providing updates on case status and addressing client inquiries.

-Court Filings: Prepare and file legal documents with the appropriate courts, ensuring compliance with deadlines and procedural requirements.

-Legal Support: Assist attorneys during court hearings, trials, and mediation sessions by providing administrative support, managing exhibits, and taking notes as necessary.

-Administrative Tasks: Perform general administrative duties such as answering phone calls, managing calendars, and handling incoming and outgoing correspondence.

-Legal Updates: Stay informed about changes in family law legislation and procedures to provide accurate and up-to-date information to the legal team.

-Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality of client information and sensitive case details.

Qualifications:

-Bachelor\'s degree in law or related field preferred.

-Paralegal certificate or equivalent education/experience in family law.

-Strong understanding of family law principles and legal procedures.

-Proficiency in legal research and document drafting.

-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

-Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.

-Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

-Proficiency in using legal software and Microsoft Office Suite.

-Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

-Strong ethical and professional conduct.

-Previous experience in a law firm or legal setting (preferred but not required).
