Legal Bookkeeper
to manage and oversee our financial operations. As the sole bookkeeper, you will play a critical role in maintaining the firm's financial health and collaborating closely with our managing partners to ensure smooth and compliant financial processes.
Key Responsibilities:
General Ledger Management:
Analyze and review General Ledger (G/L) statements for discrepancies, making necessary adjustments.
Billings & Invoices:
Oversee the review of associate lawyers' billings and manage all departmental billings (dockets, flat fees).
Bank & Account Reconciliations:
Perform trust and general bank reconciliations, reconcile pre-paid accounts, and complete month-end accounting.
Payroll & Tax:
Handle payroll postings, HST calculations, levy surcharge payments, and ensure timely submission of taxes.
Trust Account & File Management:
Monitor trust accounts, manage closed files, and prepare real estate closing cheques.
Payment & Expense Posting:
Process accounts payable, credit card reconciliations, and manage expense postings from third-party platforms like Teranet, Oncorp, and DivorceMate.
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
Conduct monthly partner meetings to review financials, provide banking updates, and ensure compliance with LSO regulations.
Other Duties:
Manage accounts receivable, assist with associate lawyer reconciliations, and oversee mortgage management.

What We Are Looking For:
Proven experience as a bookkeeper, ideally within a law firm environment.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and legal financial regulations.
Proficiency with accounting software and office tools.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to collaborate with a legal team.
Strong work ethic, ability to work independently, and maintain confidentiality.
