PARALEGAL/LEGAL ASSISTANTBoutique solicitor's practice focused in business law, elder law, and residential real estate is looking for a paralegal/legal assistant to join our team. You will be the gate keeper as well as the face and voice of this thriving law practice. You possess excellent judgement, technical and client service skills. You are polished and have strong communication and organization skills focused on world-class client service. Additionally, you are proactive and have a history of owning any position you've held in the past. Responsibilities include:RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • All administrative duties typically required of a paralegal/experienced legal assistance including but not limited to: taking instructions from the Solicitor, preparing client file materials and documents, updating client information, maintaining a diary system; responding to correspondence, and filing;
  • Calendar organization and time management for the Solicitor;
  • Recording client disbursements and generating accounts in PCLaw;
  • Working with service providers responsible for maintaining law practice infrastructure (ie
IT and book-keeping);
  • Receiving client materials, opening and routing incoming mail; and
  • Updating and improving office organization systems.
You are detail oriented, accurate and possess great technical and proof reading skills. Other requirements include:REQUIREMENTS:
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in an office with similar volume and expectations.
  • A legal assistant certificate from a recognized educational institution.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Word and Outlook; with PC Law, Adobe Acrobat and Excel as an asset.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem resolution skills.
  • Strong client service and relationship building skills.
  • Highly adaptable with the ability to conform to rapidly shifting priorities and schedules.
  • Excellent time-management, organizational and follow-up skills
  • Demonstrated detail orientation and accuracy.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and deal with multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Demonstrated integrity, flexibility, practicality, with a "can-do" attitude.
  • Proactive and innovative with an "improvement seeking" orientation.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with sensitive situations and confidential information.
