Position Overview

Are you an expert in keeping a team organized, ensuring details are correct, documents are accurate, and priorities are met?

Shared Health (sharedhealthmb.ca) has an opportunity for a Legal Assistant to support the legal services team.

The ideal candidate for this Legal Assistant position will:

  • Be unquestionable in their integrity and management of confidential information; and demonstrate a commitment to our organizational vision, mission and values.
  • Be an expert in time and priority management for themselves and the team they support to coordinate calendars and manage emails.
  • Apply expertise in general office software and tools (MS Office, Teams, Zoom) to produce exemplary documents such as employment contracts, commercial agreements, legal pleadings, legal briefing notes, policies, procedures, letters, reports, spreadsheets, charts, graphics and presentations and to coordinate meetings with clear agendas and minutes.
  • Edit documents with clear English/Canadian grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Take the initiative to respond to general requests and be an active participant in the continuous improvement of tools, processes and systems.
  • Be a positive and energetic team contributor making valued contributions to the work team in guiding their increased efficiency and quality of service.
Completion of a legal assistant certificate program or other formal legal assistant training along with a minimum of 5 years of previous experience as a legal assistant and a minimum typing speed of 60 wpm are required. Prior experience and education in corporate commercial or labour & employment law is an asset. This position will require a flexible approach to working from home and in the office in downtown Winnipeg to meet client expectations and deliver or exceed customer service commitments. This position requires the successful candidate provide, at their cost, a current (within 6 months of the start of employment) and satisfactory Criminal Records Check including Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.
