We are currently seeking a Legal Assistant with 3-5 years general experience in Corporate records management and Wills and Estate planning administration. Applicants must possess CORES accreditation, experience with drafting and filing Corporate documents and maintenance of Corporate minute books. In addition the successful candidate will possess general knowledge in estate file procedures and digital document filing. Applicants must be self motivated, posses strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skill with a focus on client service. Responsibilities:
- Answer client inquiries and schedule appointments for lawyers
- Manage lawyer's calendar
- Draft correspondence and legal agreements
Draft Wills and estate documents and digital file as required
- File and maintain corporate records including Annual Returns, Shareholder Agreements and Resolutions
- Maintain filing systems and limitation systems
- Ensure deadlines are met and documentation is completed on a timely basis
- Proofread legal documents for accuracy and completeness
- Perform other clerical duties, organizing documents, taking notes, transcribing audio/written material
- Prepare client files for lawyer's review
Qualifications:
- Legal Assistant 2 year diploma
- Minimum 2 years experience in legal field
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in conducting legal research using online databases and resources
- Familiarity with legal drafting and formatting requirements
- Attention to detail and strong proofreading skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook PDF programs) and Net Doc work flow management system
