Job Description


Are you an organized, conscientious legal administrative professional who enjoys working as part of a team? We are looking to add a new member to our Vancouver office, supporting a full-time litigation practice.
About the Job: Our legal administrative assistant will support two lawyers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support with general administrative work including file management (opening/closing of files, filing etc.)
  • Draft legal documents and correspondence from standard precedents (e.g. appointments, notices of CPC and requisitions).
  • Maintain and exercise a basic understanding of legal procedures such as Acts, Rules, Regulations, etc. within the areas of litigation and specifically Personal Injury Litigation, and within the scope of their role.
  • Assist with BF system re: limitation dates and follow-up actions.
  • Liaise with clients, experts, opposing counsel, witnesses and adjusters.
  • Coordinating incoming and outgoing mail, couriers and resulting responses and action items.
  • Continual learning and keeping up to date on changes.

About our Ideal Candidate
Experience: At least one year working as a legal administrative assistant in a similar role with comparable responsibilities is preferred, but not required.
Education: A legal administrative assistant certification from an accredited post-secondary institution, or equivalent experience/training.
Skills: Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel); knowledge of court rules and procedures; superior organization and interpersonal skills; the ability to engage clients internal and external; a strong communicator; experience in scheduling calendars and working knowledge of PC Law is an asset.
Characteristics: You should be self-motivated and thrive on solving problems both independently and with the team. You are a proactive self-starter who has a positive and energetic attitude. You understand the importance of exercising discretion and confidentiality and can adapt to dynamic situations. We take pride in the quality of our work, so we hope you do too. This position requires 5 days per week (Monday to Friday during business hours) in our downtown Vancouver office.
