SimpsonWigle Law LLP is currently seeking to hire a Legal Assistant in our Commercial Litigation team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:
Providing clerical, administrative and general office support including organizing
schedules
Basic familiarity with Practice Direction set by different court regions
Keeping track of deadlines, including filing deadlines
Handling all aspects relative to court processes and procedures
Drafting basic motion materials and pleadings
Maintaining files, completing filings, entering dockets and invoice preparation
Assembling of Affidavit of Documents
Arranging Examinations of Discovery
Other tasks as assigned
Required experience/qualifications:
Completion of a post secondary Legal Assistant or equivalent
2 years legal experience
A solid knowledge of legal office practice, legal terminology and procedure relating to legal correspondence and legal documents
Knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedures
Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
Exhibit excellent commitment to client service and the maintenance of client confidentiality
Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills
Excellent organizational skills, resourceful and capable of working independently, as well with a number of individuals in a fast-paced environment
Ability to exercise good judgment and confidentiality
Experience with GhostPractice and iManage would be an asset
