Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and empatheticLegal Assistantto join our growing team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our lawyers in delivering high-quality legal services in family and child protection cases. This position requires strong organizational skills, discretion, and a genuine interest in helping families navigate the legal system.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and manage legal documents including affidavits, pleadings, and court forms
Maintain and organize client files - primarily electronic* Schedule court appearances, client meetings, and conferences
Liaise with clients, court staff, and other third party professionals
Perform general administrative duties such as answering phone calls
Assist with legal research and case preparation
Ensure confidentiality and sensitivity in all client interactions
Utilize legal software such as LEAP to retrieve and organize case-related information
Utilize Microsoft products and Adobe
Qualifications
1 year of experience in a legal assistant role, preferably in family or child protection law.
Proficiency in legal software and Microsoft Office Suite
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities with compassion and professionalism
Knowledge of Ontario family law procedures and court systems
Legal Assistant or Paralegal diploma/certificate preferred
Bilingualism (English and French) is considered a strong asset
