We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Assistant to support our legal team.

This position will be responsible for providing administrative and clerical support for lawyers in the Edmonton office. Our ideal candidate is self-motivated, highly organized and has confidence in their technical, proofreading and time management skills as well as excellent communication skills. The candidate must be able to work independently, follow instructions with minimal supervision and thrive in a fast-paced, professional team environment.
Qualifications include:
Minimum 2 years demonstrated work experience in Litigation
Experience in Condominium Law, Aboriginal Law and/or Employment law is a strong asset
Legal Assistant Diploma or Certificate
Exceptional organizational, analytical and time management skills with the ability to work well under pressure
Ability to manage multiple files and assigned tasks in conjunction with deadlines
Confident and dependable professional with strong initiative and ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
Knowledge of the Rules of Court including court procedures
Demonstrated ability to draft original legal documents and correspondence and initiate follow-up action as required
Highly developed English written and oral communication skills, additional languages spoken considered an asset
Proficiency with various computer applications, such as MS Office applications, document management and IPro/DiscoveryLocal
Client-focused approach and commitment to providing exceptional service to internal and external clients
Responsibilities Include:
Organizing and maintaining files from opening to closing
Preparation and drafting of correspondence
Communication with clients, counsel and other third parties
Maintaining lawyers' calendars and contacts, scheduling client appointments as directed
Organizing and prioritizing numerous tasks and completing them under time constraints
Performing client conflict checking, opening new client matters and maintaining established files
Scheduling of court appearances and related items as necessary
Preparation of pleadings as required
Updating and maintaining internal databases
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $50,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
