Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Legal Assistant to join our client's team on a 2-4 weeks project work in Edmonton, Alberta. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting complex litigation processes, working closely with legal professionals and team members to ensure the accurate and timely preparation of legal documentation and responses. This position requires a highly motivated individual with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively.
Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze a 400-page transcript to identify 200 plus undertakings and compile responses.
  • Draft, organize, and manage legal documentation related to litigation proceedings.
  • Communicate effectively with legal teams and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for case preparation.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure all sensitive information is handled securely.
  • Liaise with various team members and external contacts to facilitate the completion of undertakings.
  • Utilize case management and legal software to track deadlines and manage documentation.
  • Provide comprehensive project support to streamline the litigation process.
  • Manage schedules and calendars to ensure timely progression of case-related tasks.
  • Work independently while demonstrating initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure accuracy and consistency in legal responses.
Requirements:
  • MUST have proven experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal, particularly in litigation support.
  • Proficiency in legal software such as Aderant, Adobe Acrobat, case management tools and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong understanding of litigation processes, including pleadings and legal documentation.
  • Exceptional organizational written and communication skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to liaise with legal teams and external stakeholders.
  • High level of discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Familiarity with tools such as CompuLaw, ACRIS, and document scanning and photocopying.
