What You'll Do
As a Legal Assistant, your expertise in civil litigation and employment law will help drive the success of two senior partners. This exciting and diverse role includes:

  • Drafting, editing, formatting, and revising legal documents, correspondence, and reports.
  • Filing legal documents electronically using Alberta Court Portal and CaseLines.
  • Preparing for hearings and trials, including coordinating schedules for discoveries, expert witnesses, and mediations.
  • Recording and tracking court appearances, deadlines, and filing requirements to ensure accuracy.
  • Proofreading documents, ensuring immaculate grammar and formatting.
  • Managing calendars and appointments, balancing key deadlines with client and personal commitments.
  • Coordinating service and filing of proceedings with agencies and courts.
  • Maintaining discretion and confidentiality in client-related matters.
  • Implementing organizational tools to prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Answering phone calls professionally and fostering strong client relationships.
  • Utilizing MS Office Suite, GhostPractice, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat for efficient workflow.
Requirements:
What You'll Bring
To excel in this role, you will need exceptional attention to detail, multitasking skills, and the ability to thrive under pressure. Candidates should bring:
  • 3+ years of experience in a litigation law firm, particularly in employment and labour law.
  • A Legal Assistant diploma or equivalent (Law Clerk certificate is an asset).
  • Strong knowledge of legal terminology, Alberta Rules, litigation processes, and protocols.
  • Exceptional English proficiency-including grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills.
  • High proficiency in MS Office, GhostPractice, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to file documents electronically through Alberta Court Portal and CaseLines.
  • Superior organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Decisiveness, adaptability, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Professionalism, discretion, and the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • A collaborative team-player attitude with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Available to work regular office hours (9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m.), with flexibility to meet tight deadlines.
Compensation & Work Environment
  • Salary: $60,000-$70,000 per year, depending on experience.
