We are looking for a meticulous and resourceful Legal Administrative Assistant to join our team on a long-term contract basis. In this role, you will focus on supporting legal documentation and tribunal applications, particularly those related to landlord and tenant matters. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a detail-oriented environment and has a passion for working with legal and financial records. Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed financial reviews of invoices and contracts to ensure compliance with applicable guidelines and contractual obligations.
  • Verify and compile proof of payment documentation, including bank statements and cheque copies, to meet tribunal evidentiary standards.
  • Develop and maintain accurate financial summaries and rent rolls in Excel to support legal applications.
  • Prepare and format tribunal documentation, including statutory forms and schedules, using Excel and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Collaborate with clients to address missing or incomplete documentation, providing clear guidance on required materials.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple cases simultaneously, ensuring all tribunal deadlines are met.
  • Utilize legal and case management software to organize and track documentation and progress.
  • Perform general administrative tasks, such as photocopying, scanning, and managing legal calendars, to support the team.
  • Ensure all legal pleadings, contracts, and other documents are accurate and properly formatted before submission.
Requirements:
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, and data formatting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, particularly with numbers and legal documents.
  • Ability to interpret and apply legislative or procedural guidelines effectively.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience with legal documentation, tribunal processes, or property management is preferred.
  • Familiarity with case management software, Aderant, and CompuLaw is an asset.
  • Background in accounting or financial analysis is highly advantageous.
