Description:
The Division of Rheumatology in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto is seeking a Clinician Teacher to join the division based at the Toronto Western Hospital site of the University Health Network/ Sinai Health System. The successful applicant must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the University of Toronto at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Effective start date of the appointment is July 1, 2023 or shortly thereafter.
The position of a Clinician Teacher requires a dedicated, accomplished general rheumatologist whose clinical areas of interest/expertise align with the divisional requirements. The candidate is expected to provide excellent clinical care, will be highly engaged in rheumatology teaching and learner supervision and will be expected to engage in educational administrative activities commensurate with experience and interests going forward.
The successful candidate must hold an MD degree or equivalent, have completed subspecialty training in a recognized rheumatology postgraduate training program accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent and must have or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Candidates should have formal training in education - either a relevant graduate degree or have one or more years of post-residency fellowship plus completion of training in health professions education or have demonstrated sustained excellence in clinical teaching over years in practice.
Academic rank, salary and contractual arrangements will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. Remuneration will be determined by the hospital base support for a Clinician Teacher and the amount of clinical work performed. Annual salary is anticipated to be at a minimum of $200,000 or greater per year.
Toronto Western Hospital, part of the University Health Network, is an acute care facility. For Internal Medicine and its subspecialties, Mt Sinai Department of Medicine is partnered with University Health Network Department of Medicine. As such, the Division of Rheumatology spans both institutions.
