Position SummaryThis position is responsible for enhancing the accessibility of existing online courses and for promoting and ensuring the accessibility of newly developed courses. Contributes to the design, maintenance and support of the online delivery.
Duties & Responsibilities * Works with key stakeholders in the development phase of online courses to provide accessibility and UDL advice for course design. Provides advice and recommendations for accessible use of Moodle Student object tools such as chat, internal email, Wikis, Gradebook, etc.

  • Designs and builds online course websites using a range of technologies. Places designed material into accessible online format using UDL principles.
  • Advises on creating accessible, user-friendly interfaces for students to easily navigate the course content, course tools and resources.
  • Collaborates with instructors/departments to test online courses, conducts accessibility audits and ensures all elements are working properly prior to course commencement. Works in partnership with team members to provide effective technical support and advice to College clients.
  • Regularly monitors and tests new developments on the Internet and other e-technologies, and briefs key stakeholders on the implications and potential for online delivery courses.
  • Maintains awareness of new technologies, trends and developments in Internet and related telecommunications developments.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
QualificationsEducation and Experience
  • Completion of a related 2-year College diploma and over 2 years\' related experience in advanced computer, web, and multimedia technology; or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience may be substituted for the required qualifications. Experience supporting the design of courses for online delivery using Moodle and other learning environments. Experience and knowledge of web accessibility and UDL.
Skills and Abilities
  • Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and faculty.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a pro-active problem solving approach. Ability to function professionally during periods of high stress.
  • Ability to manage, design, develop and implement curriculum projects and develop instructional products for delivery using a broad range of instructional strategies and tools.
  • Ability to use applications such as Articulate 360 and Moodle.
  • Expertise in advanced word processing, desktop publishing, image editing, and web-based delivery software, knowledge of HTML, and web 2.0 applications.
  • Ability to think creatively and demonstrate initiative in the design and construction of instructional materials with respect to appearance, use of graphics and page layout.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage several time-sensitive tasks at a time.
  • Proficiency in English, both oral and written.
  • Proficiency in email program usage, good web-etiquette.
  • A high degree of accuracy and demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor technical issues.
