The Learning Technologist has foundational knowledge in a range of Educational Technologies which is used for providing operational training and support to enhance technology-enabled student experiences. This role is responsible for time-sensitive technical training and support services, front-line relationship management, and providing exceptional service to all staff and students across NAIT. The Learning Technologist will coordinate development and delivery support activities with other service departments including NAIT ITS Service Desk, Academic Quality and Operational Excellence (AQOE), Organizational Development Services (ODS), and Corporate and Continuing Education (CCE). Further, the role will investigate and advise on the appropriateness of current and future educational technologies to ensure a stable, secure, and modern learning technology ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Support
  • Provide and manage technical support for students and staff using incident management software.
  • Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot learning technologies in a collaborative environment.
  • Gather and analyze data on Learning Technology usage.
  • Identify accessibility limitations in software, report findings, and develop actionable solutions.
  • Training
  • Design and deliver training programs (online and in-person) for diverse audiences.
  • Maintain and promote training resources.
  • Collect and analyze feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Consultation
  • Provide expert guidance on learning technology use, accessibility, and best practices for course design.
  • Advocate for student and instructor technology needs and interests.
  • Communicate updates, evaluate tools, and research innovations to enhance the learning ecosystem.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and high-level proficiency with various learning technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills for providing just-in-time support and training.
  • Familiarity with customer support service delivery, including incident management, data analysis, and identifying training opportunities.
  • Knowledge of system configuration, enrollment processes, role permissions, and LMS and SIS provisioning, is a considered a strong asset.
  • Technical skills for managing deployments, updates, and patches, and the ability to collaborate with vendor technical teams.
  • Understanding of post-secondary teaching and learning processes and pedagogy.
  • Instructional design skills to develop training outcomes, lessons, and activities.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and the ability to create training plans addressing technological changes and emerging needs.
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary achievement or equivalent qualification or experience.
  • Experience in structuring educational content and working with educational technology to support instructional approaches.
  • Experience must include providing training and instruction to people with diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Experience supporting or directly using a Learning Management System (LMS).
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
Remuneration: $55,138.46 - $72,519.72 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification - Advisor/Specialist I).
This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
