Working for the Department/Faculty
The Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) Office is responsible for the administration of close to 1000 trainees in over 60 accredited programs within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry in the College of Health Sciences. The PGME team includes 19 administrative positions and 8 directors governed by the Associate and Assistant Deans. Our mission is to support the trainees (residents and fellows), program directors, supervisors, administrators and faculty members involved in postgraduate medical education.
Position Summary
The PGME Office is looking for a Learning Sciences Analyst as part of our new Learning Sciences Team. This position, reporting to the Team Lead, is responsible for adopting, maintaining, supporting and administering the various electronic assessment and learning platforms for the PGME Office and the accredited residency programs. This includes multiple assessment software, learning management software, student performance reporting software amongst other software programs while implementing and maintaining data process flows. Finally, the individual is responsible for the creation of learner feedback reporting and other learning sciences solutions as needed. The profile of this role may be well suited to a junior professional who has a combination of DevOps and Data Analyst experiences.
Duties
PROGRAMMING AND DATABASE DEVELOPMENT
Modifies and updates available learning sciences technologies to meet the postgraduate medical education needs and accreditation requirements.
Independently designs, collate and disseminate learner and preceptor reports.
Generates design specifications and implements automated data collection, evaluation and verification processes for the residency programs
Implements and updates software solutions interfacing with databases to facilitate data ingress and egress
ANALYTICS
Develops SQL queries to extract data.
Provides technical support for the assessment systems with faculty members and residents.
SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION & SUPPORT
Provides support for communications and development activities related to the various systems used in the PGME Office.
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in computer science is required.
Minimum of 3 years of related work experience.
Experience in planning, developing, problem solving and maintaining customized software solutions and learning management systems.
Expert in relational databases and ability to develop, test, and use SQL to query and combine small to medium sized databases.
Experience in managing and administrating learning management systems, records management systems, and other database systems is an asset.
Experience with development in multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, Google App Script, Java Script, php, node.js).
Ability to quickly analyze data using Google Sheets, Excel, R, Tableau, or customized programming.
A demonstrated ability to independently collaborate and train with other support staff and faculty members in translating technical knowledge into easy-to-use processes.
Ability to solve complex problems and coordinate activities with a team of colleagues.
Experience with establishing and maintaining education and health data structure and process flows.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a high-pace medical education environment.
Good written and verbal communication skills are required.
Ability to organize and implement multiple projects of varying scope and priorities.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect the security of information.
Monitors and troubleshoots technical issues from operational servers delivering education as they arise.
Excellent interpersonal skills, writing and public communication skills for considerable interaction with learners, support staff and faculty.
Strong attention to detail.
