The

Learning & Engagement Manager

is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive staff training and engagement strategies that support excellence in service delivery within a community living environment. This role plays a vital part in enhancing the capacity, confidence, and cohesion of our workforce through evidence based educational programs, person-centered staff development, and proactive engagement initiatives.



Working collaboratively with senior leadership, program managers, and frontline teams, the Manager will ensure that learning and engagement initiatives are aligned with our organizational mission, regulatory requirements, and sector best practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in adult education and organizational learning, paired with experience in the community living, disability services, or social service sectors.


Compensation:

Starting at $42.26 per hour (20 hours/week minimum, up to 40 hours/week) *plus benefits upon meeting eligibility requirements.

Position Type:

Temporary, 1-year contract (with potential for full-time conversion or negotiation).

Location:

All Locations of Service, based out of Head Office in Coquitlam, BC.

Some benefits have eligibility requirements of surpassing three (3) months and securing a regular position of 20hrs/week or more. The benefits and criteria may change from time to time at the discretion of Strive.*




Key Duties and Responsibilities:





1. Strategic Learning & Development Planning


Assess current and future learning needs across all departments. Develop an annual training strategy aligned with organizational goals, accreditation standards, and service mandates. Set training objectives, delivery models, and evaluation benchmarks. Ensure equity, accessibility, and inclusion in all learning materials and delivery methods.

2. Curriculum Design & Training Delivery


Design and develop training programs (e.g., onboarding, person-centered support, positive behavior support, health and safety, leadership development). Deliver in-person or virtual training sessions and workshops. Coordinate external training providers, speakers, or consultants as needed. Adapt content to diverse learning styles, literacy levels, and frontline staff schedules.

3. Learning Management System (LMS) Oversight


Manage content, enrollment, tracking, and reporting through the organization's LMS. Provide technical and instructional support to staff using the LMS. Monitor compliance with mandatory training (e.g., health and safety, abuse prevention, medication administration).

4. Staff Engagement & Retention


Develop and lead initiatives that foster a culture of belonging, recognition, and open communication. Conduct staff engagement surveys, analyze results, and collaborate with leadership to implement action plans. Facilitate focus groups, listening sessions, or peer mentoring programs. Support employee recognition programs, internal communication campaigns, and wellness initiatives.

5. Evaluation & Reporting


Track participation, satisfaction, and performance outcomes related to training and engagement initiatives. Prepare reports and dashboards for leadership, funders, and accreditation bodies. Use data to inform ongoing improvements and demonstrate return on investment (ROI) of L&D initiatives.

6. Collaboration & Capacity Building


Partner with HR, program managers, and subject matter experts to co-develop training. Support leadership development and succession planning efforts through structured learning pathways. Represent the organization at external training networks, conferences, and sectoral learning communities. Stay up to date on relevant legislation, sectoral standards, and adult education methodologies.



Required Qualifications:




M.Ed. or Graduate Certificates in Adult Learning and Education, Organizational Learning, Organizational Development or Organizational Leadership; Instructional Design or a closely related field. Minimum 3 years of experience in training, staff development, or organizational learning. Direct experience working in community living, disability services, or a related social services setting. Strong understanding of person-centered practices, trauma-informed approaches, and adult learning principles. Proficiency with digital learning tools, e-learning development, and learning management systems (e.g., Relias, Moodle, Absorb, UKG Pro Learning). Experience facilitating both virtual and in-person training sessions. Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills. Strong project management and evaluation capabilities.



Preferred Assets and Skills:




Certification in coaching, or facilitation (e.g., ATD, CACE, CPLP). Experience supporting unionized workforces and/or sector-specific compliance training. Knowledge of CARF accreditation standards or CLBC requirements. Fluency in languages other than English is an asset. Learning Design and Authoring Tools AI and Innovation in Learning
