The Learner Engagement Attendant is primarily located at the administrative desk on the 3rd floor of RDP's downtown campus and requires a passion for improving the non-credit International student experience in Continuing Education and Corporate Training. The role requires regular positive interaction with students, staff, and Instructors. The role will also foster community and connection by participating in new student orientation sessions, proctoring exams, campus tours, information distribution, building trust and rapport with the student body and regular student engagement.
Position Responsibilities
Student Communication and Supports
Serves as the first point of contact for students seeking assistance, supporting students in
navigating RDP's student services, providing guidance on non-academicFoster community and connection
Information distribution for student questions
Build trust and rapport with the student body and regular student engagement
Escalates concerns of student performance and/or behaviour to the appropriate Program
CoordinatorHangs posters and provides communication to promote student supports and activities either
offered by International, the Library or Health and WellnessFirst day - support students to find their first class
Prepare Lunch and Learn activities to prepare students for various holiday and Canadian
cultural activities - identify key cultural activities that are important to students.Weekly small prize draw to get student response on key student experience questions -
returned feedback to support staffEstablish and monitor Rice Cooker, snacks and access to kitchen for student lunches
Oversee the use of recreation resources in the student lounge
Classroom & Instructor Support
Participation in Student orientation and information for new students about services within the
Downtown campus and on Main CampusSupport coordination of Downtown Campus Student Orientation
Provide feedback from students and instructors to support staff
Promote course evaluation feedback to increase the number of responses on course
evaluations.Regular proctoring or invigilation assistance for both sets of mid-terms and final exams
Facilitate campus tours
Metrics
Create detailed records of student interactions, reports information to the Associate Dean
Identify common issues and areas where additional support may be needed
Provide reports to leadership, as requested, on engagement tactics and participation
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent to about 12 years of schooling.
