Westland Insurance Group Ltd has an exciting opportunity for a Learning & Development Specialist to join our growing team. This hybrid role is based out of our Head Office in Surrey, BC, and is a 12-month term opportunity.
Expected Compensation: The expected hiring range for this role is $73,600 to $92,000 based on a 35-hour work week. Actual offered salary will depend on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, as well as market conditions for the role, and internal equity.

As a Learning and Development Specialist, you will be a part of the Learning and Development function. You will partner with subject matter experts to develop learning resources in a variety of media. You will leverage your knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design to develop and refine Westland's learning content. You will also be responsible for the administration of Westland College, our internal LMS.

Why we'll love You:
  • Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and delivering learning content in a variety of formats such as e-modules, webinars, job aids and videos etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; including public speaking presentation and facilitation skills using a virtual environment
  • Strong knowledge of instructional design and theory
  • Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Powerpoint, Excel) and web conferencing solutions such as Microsoft Teams
  • Proficiency in developing effective web-based learning material using rapid design tools such as Articulate Storyline, Camtasia and Vyond.
  • Experience administering cloud-based learning management system (experience with Ceridian Dayforce or Docebo considered an asset)
  • Experience creating and delivering training for ERP systems or phone systems such as Genesys is an asset
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience is required
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma with a focus on adult education, instructional design, or related field
Once here, you'll:
  • Create learning content, leveraging best practices in Adult Learning Principles, blended learning approaches, and Westland's content development software
  • Work with subject matter experts to create engaging, best-in-class learning resources
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the learning platform
  • Conduct needs analyses with the business
  • Assist with auditing Westland's learning content and ensure it remains relevant and engaging. Update and revise content as needed based on business needs and product changes
  • Test all eLearning courses prior to publishing to ensure a positive user experience
  • Deliver training content and facilitate learning sessions in person and virtually when required
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with managers, leadership, and vendors/external contacts
  • Contribute to projects related to learning & development - implementation and optimization of a learning management system, annual compliance training completion, manager and leadership development, technical training, reporting strategies etc.
  • Assist with measuring the effectiveness of training, manage feedback, identify trends, make recommendations
  • Build and execute communication plans to make learners and leaders aware of new and existing learning opportunities and tools
  • Advise learners and business stakeholders on options for ongoing development where required
  • Provide support for the filming of video components for eLearning courses
  • Ongoing administration of the learning management system, updating content, providing reports as required
  • Maintain knowledge of industry changes, Westland's product offerings, and best practices in Adult Learning Principles
