Position Responsibilities
The Centre of Teaching, Learning and Scholarship (CTLS) at Red Deer Polytechnic is currently inviting applications for a Sessional Learning Designer position.
Responsibilities of the Learning Designer include:Engage with Schools, programs, faculty, and services in key areas including: program development and redevelopment; curriculum design; pedagogy; teaching development; learning spaces; educational technologies; and flexible learning.
Act as a specialist and take the lead role in Curriculum and Program review.
Demonstrate a strong background in pedagogy and instruction, application of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning to the learning environment, integration of educational technology including learning management systems, and curriculum development and review for post-secondary programming.
Work as part of integrated and fast-paced teams to support faculty in the creation of quality learning experiences and environments for all RDP learners.
Demonstrate a commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and to Indigenization and apply this knowledge into program and course design.
Visualize opportunities for Work Integrated Learning within programming and integrate into curriculum.
Required Qualifications
Master's Degree in Adult Education / Learning Design or Master's Degree and related experience. Demonstrated expertise via work experience may be considered as an equivalent.
Demonstrated expertise in: program development and redevelopment; curriculum design; pedagogy; teaching development; learning spaces; educational technologies; and flexible learning.
Teaching experience at a post-secondary level.
Demonstrated application of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.
Demonstrated ability to work within a collaborative team-based context.
Demonstrated understanding and application of applied research and inquiry.
Commitment to continuous learning and reflective practice.
Strong communication skills.

Red Deer Polytechnic offers a comprehensive benefits package including Alberta Blue Cross extended health and dental plans, and health spending account. There is a tuition waiver for RDP credit courses for you as well as your immediate family members, as well as opportunities for professional development funding. The Local Authorities Pension Plan is also offered as an option to those who have served a waiting period. There is paid time off due to Institution closures between Christmas and New Year general holidays. This position also offers an additional 8% of the regular salary in lieu of vacation.
