The Individual Learning Modules Office is responsible for the creation, maintenance, and distribution of Individual Learning Modules (ILMs). ILMs are standardized learning resources for instructors and students in apprenticeship, trades, and technical training courses. Based on the Alberta apprenticeship course outline, published modules are an important part of the apprenticeship curriculum and provide apprentices with current, standardized learning materials that meet Alberta industry standards. The ILM office, both a learning resource development and publishing team, manages ILM content development, product creation, publishing, and product distribution.
Learning Designers on the ILM team are responsible for supporting the development of engaging, high-quality, outcome-based ILM learning content and ILM learning resources. ILM content and resources are created in both print and digital formats, and may be used in face-to-face, blended, or on-line learning delivery to adult students and learners.
This role works directly with subject matter experts and applies learning and instructional design theories, practices, and methods to design and develop ILM learning content and learning assessment activities. The Learning Designer supports development of technical, trades-related learning content required to meet identified institutional, provincial and national learning outcomes and objectives.
