SummaryThe Faculty of Education, through its Teacher Education Office (TEO), offers and administers BC\xe2\x80\x99s largest and most comprehensive Teacher Education (TE) programs, preparing 700+ educators annually for local, rural and international contexts, offering 17 specializations at the secondary level and 10 - 12 thematic cohorts at the elementary and middle years levels, along with 5 dual degrees with Faculties across UBC, a rural education program in the West Kootenay, a Rural and Remote TE program and an Indigenous teacher education program with field centres throughout the province. With the fast evolvement of technology application including Artificial Intelligence, it is a pressing need to enhance the digital literacy capability of the faculty and instructors in the TE programs and of teacher candidates.The Learning Design Manager, Teacher Education (TE), provides instructional leadership in the TE Programs in the Faculty of Education. This position is responsible for planning, designing, delivering, researching and evaluating initiatives and strategies to enhance the programs\xe2\x80\x99 instructional innovation. This position supports research and innovation in pedagogical design and advances existing and emerging learning technologies in the TE programs. In particular, the incumbent is expected to lead the expansion and enhancement of the digital literacy and digital competency capacity building for course coordinators (faculty), instructors and teacher candidates in the TE Programs.Organizational StatusDirectly reports to the Associate Dean, Teacher Education. Works closely with Learning Design and Digital Innovation (LDDI) staff, faculty, staff from other units, and external clients.
