We are seeking a highly motivated and student-centered
Learning & Career Development Coordinator
to support our graduates' transition into the workforce. This role is central to enhancing student job readiness and employment success through personalized coaching, employer engagement, and ongoing career development programming.
You will work closely with students, helping them prepare for and connect with employment opportunities in their chosen fields. This includes hands-on resume support, mock interviews, job search strategies, and building strong partnerships with employers and staffing agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individualized support to students and recent graduates in all aspects of job search, including resume and cover letter development, job search techniques, and career exploration.
Assist students in finding employment related to their program by offering targeted coaching and job placement support.
Conduct mock interviews and provide practical tips and strategies to improve students' confidence and interview performance.
Develop and deliver interactive job readiness workshops, including topics such as resume writing, networking, professional communication, and career planning.
Plan, promote, and host on-site and virtual career fairs and employer panels to increase student exposure to potential job opportunities.
Build and maintain partnerships with local businesses and staffing agencies to generate job leads, co-op placements, and employment pipelines for graduates.
Maintain regular communication with students before and after graduation to offer continued career support and track employment outcomes.
Collaborate with instructional and administrative staff to embed career readiness into program delivery.
Keep current with labour market trends and employer expectations to ensure alignment with student job preparation.
Maintain an up-to-date job placement tracking system and support employment outcome reporting for institutional accountability.
Conduct surveys, calls and feedback initiatives to evaluate and enhance career programming and services.
Create and share career focused content for social media, including upcoming workshops, resume tips, job search strategies, success stories and employment opportunities.
Maintain the upcoming New West College Career Hub, uploading job postings, career tips and resources and ensuring that they are current and engaging.
Qualifications:
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Career Development, Human Resources, Business, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
Minimum 1 year of experience in career services, employment counseling, or job development, preferably in a post-secondary or training environment.
Strong understanding of resume standards, interview preparation, and contemporary job search strategies.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
Strong interpersonal presence with the ability to actively engage students, faculty, and external partners in a positive and approachable manner.
Demonstrated enthusiasm for building connections and fostering collaborative relationships in both one-on-one and group settings.
Comfortable initiating conversations, facilitating discussions, and presenting ideas with confidence to diverse audiences.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, online job boards, social media, and virtual conferencing tools.
Assets:
Certified Career Development Professional (CCDP) or equivalent certification.
Knowledge of Alberta's employment landscape and the private career college sector.
Experience engaging employers, hosting events, and facilitating workshops or webinars.
Familiarity with outcome-based education and adult learning models.
Knowledge of or experience with Articulate 360.
Prior experience with the development of digital learning products.
