Mooredale SC is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled
Learn to Skate Coach
to join our team for the upcoming winter season. The ideal candidate will have strong skating experience and a passion for teaching foundational skating skills to children. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys working with youth and fostering confidence, coordination, and fun on the ice.
Responsibilities
Lead engaging on-ice sessions focused on balance, control, and skating fundamentals.
Create lesson plans that suit various age groups and skill levels.
Provide clear instruction and positive encouragement to help skaters develop safely and confidently.
Assess participants' progress and adjust drills or activities to meet individual needs.
Maintain a fun, supportive, and inclusive environment that emphasizes safety and enjoyment.
Communicate effectively with participants, parents, and program staff.
Ensure all equipment and ice surfaces are safe and properly prepared for each session.
Report to the Club Director and Sports Coordinator on program progress and participant development.
Experience & Qualifications
Previous experience teaching or coaching skating is required.
NCCP or CanSkate certification is considered an asset.
Must demonstrate strong skating ability and understanding of basic skating techniques.
Experience working with children ages 4-12 is preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Patient, energetic, and able to maintain a positive atmosphere on the ice.
Ability to adapt instruction to accommodate different learning speeds and abilities.
Season Dates:
December 3, 2025 - March 5, 2026
There are no skating programs on the following dates:
December 22, 2025 - January 2, 2026 (Holiday Break)* February 16, 2026 (Family Day)*
