Job Summary



Our Learn to Skate Assistant Instructors are responsible for teaching basic skating skills to children, ages 3-8. Employees within this job classification must work very well with primary ages and they must have strong interpersonal skills to communicate with the participants' parents. The Assistant Instructor is required to ensure the program is delivered as intended by management and that it meets or exceeds client standards. Head Instructors have additional responsibility and it's possible to progress into this role once you have experience in an Assistant role.

Pay rate is dependent on experience as a figure skater/hockey player and as a skating coach.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities



Arrive 15 minutes early to help set up training materials and greet participants
Supervise the warm-up skate while the Head Instructor takes attendance
Help lead the class through warm-up, basic skating activities and games
Lead a small group of 3-5 participants through skill-specific development drills for a portion of the class (approximately 20 minutes)

Qualifications & Requirements



Must have experience figure skating or playing hockey at a competitive level
Must have knowledge of skating fundamentals and development tactics
Able to present themselves professionally and communicate appropriately with all customers and staff members
Strong planning and time management skills
Must be physically able to skate for 50 minutes continuously multiple times in a day, up to 6 hours in a row
Able to work and train in cold on-ice conditions
First-Aid/CPR required
Uniform purchase required ($100).

Shift Availability



Wednesdays: 4pm - 530pm

Saturdays: 830am - 230pm

Sundays: 830am - 245pm

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Experience:

Skating Coaching: 1 year (preferred) Personal Figure Skating or Hockey: 5 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:

First Aid & CPR/AED Certification (preferred)
