Lean Six Sigma Manager

Ajax, ON, CA, Canada

Job Description

Lean Six Sigma Manager - Warehouse & Logistics Operations

We are seeking a highly analytical, results-driven

Lean Six Sigma Manager

to lead operational excellence initiatives across our

warehouse and logistics organization

. This is a

hands-on, enterprise-level role

responsible for implementing

Lean Six Sigma principles throughout

inbound, outbound, inventory, fulfillment, and 3PL/4PL logistics workflows.

This role applies structured

DMAIC, Kaizen, and Lean Logistics methodologies

to reduce waste, eliminate defects, improve flow, and increase productivity. The ideal candidate is obsessed with efficiency--

counting steps, touches, time, defects, and cost per order

--and translating insight into scalable, repeatable systems supported by strong change management.

Key Responsibilities

Lean Six Sigma Deployment

Lead the deployment of

Lean Six Sigma principles

within the warehouse and logistics operations. Apply

DMAIC, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), and FMEA

to identify root causes, eliminate waste, reduce defects, and improve end-to-end flow. Drive continuous improvement culture through structured problem-solving and data-backed decision-making.

Warehouse & Logistics Process Optimization

Analyze inbound, outbound, inventory, fulfillment, and

cross-docking

workflows to identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks. Apply

FIFO, Kanban / Just-In-Time (JIT), Lean Logistics, and material flow optimization

to improve throughput and reduce handling. Design optimized warehouse layouts, slotting strategies, inventory positioning, and cross-docking models. Drive measurable reductions in

cycle time, labor hours, cost per order, and inventory holding costs

.

Value Stream Mapping & Inventory Optimization

Map end-to-end value streams from supplier to customer, including

3PL and 4PL logistics partners

. Identify waste across transportation, storage, picking, packing, and shipping activities. Lead

inventory optimization initiatives

to improve turns, accuracy, and service levels while reducing excess stock. Align inbound and outbound flows to support

Six Sigma principles

where feasible.

SOP Development & Process Control

Create, document, and maintain detailed

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

aligned with Lean Six Sigma standards. Implement standard work, control plans, audits, and visual management tools. Ensure processes are repeatable, scalable, and sustainable.

KPI, Metrics & Data Analysis

Define and implement KPIs for productivity, defect rates, order accuracy, cycle time, inventory accuracy, labor efficiency, and cost per order. Build dashboards and reporting frameworks to monitor performance, variation, and improvement impact. Use statistical analysis to validate improvements and sustain gains.

Technology, Systems & ERP Integration

Partner with operations and IT to align physical processes with systems such as

WMS

and logistics platforms. Ensure system workflows support Lean principles rather than create inefficiencies. Identify system enhancements or automation opportunities to improve performance and visibility.

Change Management & Cross-Functional Leadership

Drive change management through clear communication, training, and accountability. Monitor post-implementation results to ensure improvements are controlled and sustained.

Key Skills & Qualifications

Proven experience leading

Lean Six Sigma initiatives across warehouse and logistics operations

.

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification

(Black Belt strongly preferred). Strong hands-on experience with

DMAIC, Kaizen, VSM, FMEA, Kanban, JIT, FIFO, and Lean Logistics

. Experience working with

3PL and 4PL logistics environments

. Strong background in

inventory optimization and material flow design

. Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and data-driven mindset.

Success in This Role Means:

Lean Six Sigma principles are embedded across warehouse and logistics operations. Measurable reductions in labor, defects, handling steps, inventory waste, and cost per order. End-to-end value streams are mapped, optimized, and continuously improving. SOPs, standard work, and control plans are followed consistently. KPIs are trusted, visible, and used daily to drive decisions. Operational improvements are

sustained and scalable

, not one-off wins. The organization operates

leaner, faster, and with greater predictability

every quarter.
