Location: YMCA Camp Pine Crest, Torrance, Ontario (Transportation to camp is available at the beginning and end of the summer)




Work Hours: Must be available to work 6 days a week between Monday - Sunday, with days off predetermined by supervisor

YMCA Camp Pine Crest is an overnight camp serving children, families, and organizations through naturally focused programs that embody the mission, vision, and outcomes of the YMCA. Camp Pine Crest is made up of 650 acres of Muskoka wilderness surrounded by 3 interconnected lakes with 8km of shoreline; has over 26km of hiking trails and 7,500 sq. ft. of dock and has 60 buildings.



The Leadership Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of leadership programs, ensuring high-quality experiences for campers and staff alike. This role provides guidance, mentoring, and ongoing feedback to Leadership Trainers, supporting professional development, performance management, and effective program delivery. The position involves direct engagement in daily cabin programming and extended backcountry activities, working closely with the Canoe Tripping department to ensure safe and age-appropriate experiences. It requires addressing camper needs, conflicts, and escalated concerns while building and maintaining strong relationships with members, volunteers, community partners, and families. Additional responsibilities include supervising a portion of the Leadership Trainers and facilitating program activities to support the overall success of leadership initiatives.


In this role, you will:




Oversee the care and well-being of campers in leadership programs Plan and facilitate leadership section nights and cabin programs for participants within the group Supervise assigned Leadership Trainers throughout the summer by regularly engaging in their programming Provide leadership to camp staff team by training, coaching, motivating, monitoring performance, and providing mid- and end-of-summer performance appraisals to ensure staff meet role expectations and achieve camp objectives Help manage escalating camper conflicts that arise within the group Organize, distribute, and collect Leadership Appraisals, Post Cards, and Birthday Cards Continuously build relationships with members, staff, volunteers, and community partners Perform other duties as assigned

You bring:




Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C and National Lifeguard certification, valid through the end of the contract Minimum 3 years of counseling experience or directly translatable experience working with children and youth Valid driver's license Experience with canoeing and backcountry camping is an asset Ability to work effectively with others and independently to achieve optimal results Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish rapport and communicate effectively with members, staff, and volunteers Ability to provide mentorship and guidance to both inexperienced and seasoned staff Ability to deliver feedback in a timely, professional, and constructive manner Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays required Minimum 19 years of age by the start of the contract Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging
