As the Leader, Operations, you will supervise Superintendents in the Collections Services division to provide consistency across all districts and advance the division's culture and business focus. You will lead workforce management activities for Collection Services and identify operational improvements and efficiencies to ensure the business unit remains cost effective in the changing business environment. You will support staff to build and maintain engagement, promote skill development, and elevate team performance. Primary duties include:
Lead operational items related to policy change and operational optimization that require collaboration across all districts.
Provide business direction, staff work objectives, and priorities to ensure undisrupted collection of residential cart and commercial services.
Ensure consistency in investigations, discipline, training, collection service standards, and alignment to contractual obligations.
Manage the process for preventable collisions and traffic violations for all Waste and Recycling Services (WRS).
Advance employee engagement and workplace culture while supporting corporate initiatives.
Lead and track safety and environmental performance across all districts.
Monitor and analyze 311 service requests to identify trends impacting operations.
Respond to escalated inquiries from internal and external customers, including citizens, Councilors' offices, Business Unit Executive Advisor, Collections Manager, and WRS Management team.
Act as the main contact in Collection Services for the Compost Facility and the Materials Recovery Facility. Responsible for communicating and working to solve issues impacting operations.
Participate in the development of short-term and long-term business plans and provide input to the Collection Services budget.
Provide formal leadership, supervision, and coaching for direct staff.
