As the Leader, Operational Readiness, you will foster a culture of continuous improvement, promoting training, growth and inclusivity in a heavily unionized environment. You will support research and implementation of technological advances that support operator recruitment and training, efficient employee scheduling and dispatch, and onboard video. You will be leading committees responsible for Calgary Transit Operations and helping to shape critical emergency management practices. Primary duties include:Collaborate closely with the other Leaders in the Transit Operations division and with leaders across the Calgary Transit business unit, to support and strengthen the objectives and vision of the division and business unit. Ensure day-to-day service meets the growth of Calgary Transit service as outlined in the implementation of RouteAhead strategy through strategic planning. Provide leadership and guidance to several teams which facilitate the recruitment, training, and ongoing support of Transit operations, the Transit Video Unit, and a Dispatch service with a focus on Transit safety and efficiency. Provide guidance and leadership in situations which may impact Calgary Transit Operations, customers and partner agencies. Effectively develop and sustain partnerships with partner agencies and internal/external groups through integrating strategy with systems, people and processes. Provide coaching, leadership, direction, and communication to direct and indirect reports to ensure development and engagement of staff and build succession and strengthen culture within the section. Support project work as a subject matter expert and decision maker for new technology and/or integration projects that involve service.


Qualifications

A degree in Business Administration, Strategy, Education, Communications or a related field and at least 7 years of experience working in a supervisory/management role with direct reports and within a unionized setting. Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered. Experience in policy development, strategic planning, and adult education would be considered an asset. Compensation: Level M2 $130,400 - 163,000 per annum
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
