We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Underwriter to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assessing risk and determining the eligibility of applicants for private mortgages. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to make informed decisions based on data analysis and financial assessments.

Responsibilities
Underwrite incoming applications requesting funding.
Conduct thorough risk analysis to evaluate applicants' financial backgrounds and creditworthiness.
Review and analyze financial documents, including income statements, credit reports, and other relevant data.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure a seamless underwriting process.
Maintain accurate records of underwriting decisions.
Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in underwriting.
Issue commitments and follow up for conditions to be satisfied.
Build, maintain and enhance customer service levels. Verify and validate customer eligibility and material risk document for accuracy while mitigating any concerns surrounding suspected misrepresentation.
Resolve any escalated credit issues, reply to internal and external client queries, and communicate credit decisions.
Ensure you complete training and comply with confidentiality and regulatory requirements.
Review existing files to ensure the attainment of service standards for processing applications in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Provide weekly reporting on closing ratios, etc.
Qualifications
Must have previous single family residential mortgage underwriting experience. 5-years experience preferred.
Excel experience an asset
Proven experience in the financial services industry or a similar role is advantageous.
Experience in Mortgage Automator an asset.
Must pass criminal record inspection
RECA & AMBA Licensed is required
Strong mathematical skills with the ability to analyze data sets effectively.
Excellent negotiation skills with a focus on achieving favorable outcomes for both clients and the company.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Attention to detail and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.
A University degree is an asset but not required
