Lead Tutor Homework Helpers - (Part-Time) - 2 Positions

YMCA Calgary - Multiple locations

Salary: $19.95/hour- $22.17/hour

Work Term: October 2025 - June 2026

What qualifications are we looking for?


At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following:



Minimum of a High School diploma and a demonstrated ability in mathematics or science - preference given to those enrolled in or completed post-secondary studies in math/sciences/engineering/education or similar.


Experience and/or desire to work with youth


Previous tutoring experience


Leadership experience and ability to lead a team


Strong understanding of the Alberta Junior High school Math and Science curriculum


Excellent time management, organizational, written and verbal skills


Knowledge of Microsoft office programs, including outlook, word and excel.


Ability to problem solve, work independently and be flexible


A high degree of professionalism including the ability to work comfortably and successfully with corporate
professionals and volunteers



Reliable transportation


Evidence of a clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search


Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke
Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St. john's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.

What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?


Duties and Responsibilities include:



Recruit and screen prospective student participants


Assist in recruitment of volunteers as needed


Maintain consistent and clear communication with volunteers, students, and parents through emails and phone calls including inquiries and schedule availability


Deliver one to two weekly after-school tutoring sessions from September to June


Set-up, take-down and ensure clean program spaces


Procure program supplies and snacks in consultation with the Manager on a weekly basis


Stay ahead of the junior high school math and science curricula through program planning and training


Use strength-based approach to give feedback and coach program volunteers


Receive and respond to feedback from students and colleagues


Complete administrative tasks including data entry, submission of monthly reports, program statistics, and program impact stories


Build and maintain relationships with schools and community organizations


Be an ambassador in the community for the Homework Helpers Program and YMCA Calgary


Support with other branch or association duties as required
