Lead Surveyor

Location: Toronto, ON

We are starting a major project in the city of Toronto, ON, Canada. We are looking for the best candidates to join our team and support the project delivery.

Project overview:

\xe2\x80\x94 The Ontario Line is a 15.6 km stand-alone rapid transit line that will connect the Ontario Science Centre to Exhibition / Ontario Place.
\xe2\x80\x94 The OLS project, is one of the three P3 contracts to deliver the Ontario Line, it is a design-build and finance contract for the 6 km southern portion of the Ontario Line, from Exhibition / Ontario Place to the Don Yard portal (west of Don River)
\xe2\x80\x94 The scope of the Project includes the design, construction, and handover of all tunnels (twin tube of 6 km each), 7 stations (turnkey for 1 station at grade and 6 underground stations) and civil works

Position\'s Main Objectives: Take charge of site survey activities at a particular section of the project.

Reporting to: Survey Manager

Principal Accountability & Responsibility:

Understand and execute all necessary survey works to achieve the requirements.
Report directly to the Survey Manager whenever he/she finds a mistake/issue or if he/she has any doubt on site about the coordinates, alignment, elevation, safety etc.
Have good operational knowledge of GPS, total station and level instruments.
Responsible for the setting-out and measurement on site.
Show and explain the points staked out on site to the concerning colleague (Site Engineer, Site Foreman, etc.).
Read and understand design and methods drawings.
Use and establish benchmark references, according to proper survey methods.
Follow up the proper maintenance of survey equipment and accessories.
Control as required the quality of work of her/his team.

Key Skills and Knowledge:

Leadership and responsibility.
Good communication with the construction team and other project members.
Good knowledge of construction methods such as earthworks and concrete formwork.
Good safety culture and ability to give the good example when it comes to being safe on site.
Fluency in English.

Education: Engineering Degree or Civil Engineering Degree with experience in relevant stream, or any survey related degree.

Experience: minimum 5 years of professional experience in civil works projects.
