Responsibilities: Act as the Structural Lead and Professional of Record on Transmission and Distribution (T&D) projects
Provide structural design, technical support and quality assurance/quality control review including calculations, design, design drawing reviews from conceptual level to detailed design for substation facilities, including equipment support structures and footings, transmission towers & poles and control room and indoor GIS switchgear buildings
Perform structural modeling using software such as SAP2000, LPILE, SAFE, and MathCAD
Preparation and review of detailed design documents including design basis, design reports, design plans, construction specifications, field review plans and reports
Review of vendor documents against specifications
Respond to requests from construction sites and complete project documentation, including as-builts, calculations, and returning data to clients
Coordinate and oversee the development of project resource planning, scope, schedule, and budget for a structural discipline project team
Establish and maintain professional relationships with our external business partners; present information and respond to questions from individual or groups of clients
Direct and/or participate in client meetings/job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data
Mentor and develop less experienced engineering team members
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery
Qualifications: Structural Engineering Degree from a recognized university along with a Canadian Professional Engineering Designation (P.Eng.) or the ability to register as a Professional Engineer with EGBC
12+ years of structural engineering design experience
Experience with structural design for utility substations, particularly projects for BC Hydro is considered an asset
Expertise in applicable Canadian codes and standards, including Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and CSA standards; familiarity with North American transmission structure design standards
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States is considered an asset
