Description:Actalent\'s client in Surrey is seeking a Lead Structural Engineer to join their team. The Lead Structural Engineer will provide accurate structural designs and will have an opportunity to assist in coordinating multidiscipline engineering activities to ensure projects are executed in an efficient, cost effective, and timely manner. Your desire to complete projects as accurately and as efficiently as possible will lead to opportunities to manage a small group of engineers and designers.Responsibilities:\xc2\xb7 Perform structural designs and calculations for onshore steel structures including pipe racks, platforms and miscellaneous equipment supports.\xc2\xb7 Forecast labor resources and provide schedule input.\xc2\xb7 Monitor engineering and drafting progress and provide input to progress reports.\xc2\xb7 Review and prepare project documents such as structural specifications and contract documents while always ensuring technical accuracy.\xc2\xb7 Coordinate tasks and work schedules to achieve the project objectives.\xc2\xb7 Design deep foundations including driven steel piles, helical piles and cast in place concrete piles.\xc2\xb7 Design shallow foundations including spread footings and slab on grade.\xc2\xb7 Provide dynamic analysis for vibrating equipment.\xc2\xb7 Provide sketches to drafting staff to produce finished drawings.\xc2\xb7 Review and check design drawings for accuracy.\xc2\xb7 Provide recommendations to improve design efficiencies where possible.\xc2\xb7 Check vendor structural and building drawings against specifications.\xc2\xb7 Prepare material cost estimates and material take-offs.\xc2\xb7 Prepare conceptual project designs, reports, and proposals.\xc2\xb7 Resolve engineering problems by modifying guidelines, developing new approaches, or applying existing procedures.\xc2\xb7 Liaise with different disciplines to resolve design problems, discuss project criteria, and facilitate smooth project coordination.\xc2\xb7 Participate in the planning necessary to accomplish project objectives.\xc2\xb7 Follow company standards and EGBC OQM procedures including design and checking.\xc2\xb7 Manage and mentor junior engineers and designers / drafters.\xc2\xb7 Responsible for approving and stamping engineering drawings and building permit schedules.\xc2\xb7 May participate in recruitment activities and provide guidance with employee relation matters.MUST HAVE:\xc2\xb7 Post-secondary education with a degree in Structural Engineering with at least 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in relevant industry.\xc2\xb7 P. Eng in British Columbia or eligible for P. Eng registration\xc2\xb7 Experience attending and leading teams design reviews and model reviews. Input into Estimating, Scheduling, Procurement processes is required.\xc2\xb7 Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team.\xc2\xb7 Ability to use judgment in pressure situations to solve problems based on engineering guidelines and procedures.\xc2\xb7 Ability to work with limited supervision, but open-minded with the ability to follow instructions.\xc2\xb7 Strong leadership capabilities with the ability and desire to supervise a small group of professionals.\xc2\xb7 Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy.\xc2\xb7 Good problem-solving skills with the ability to make analytical decisions and draw conclusions from comparative conditions.\xc2\xb7 Strong understanding and application of engineering codes and standards, as well as Canadian Building and Design Codes.\xc2\xb7 Experience in the oil and gas industry (or other heavy industry such as Mining or Forestry).\xc2\xb7 Experience with Structural computer program STAAD.Pro.\xc2\xb7 Familiarity working in a 3D design environment such as Navisworks Freedom.NICE TO HAVE:\xc2\xb7 Experience designing offshore structures would be considered an asset.\xc2\xb7 Previous field or site experience is preferred.WORK ENVIRONMENTShift?
