Position Summary:
TELUS World of Science - Edmonton is?currently hiring a Lead?Science Presenter. The Lead Science Presenter is a passionate science or knowledge leader who is eager to take on new challenges and champion the science presentations at the TELUS World of Science - Edmonton. The Lead Science Presenter is primarily responsible?for educating and communicating with visitors?to?create meaningful connections between guests and a science-related theme or message and assisting with the planning, development, and operations of our spaces and programs.

The Lead Science Presenter reports to the Director, Science?Experience?with primary supervision by?assigned Staff Scientists.??
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Lead Science Presenter will:?
Lead inquiry and science or knowledge-based activities and programs,?demos, exhibit interpretation, and other experiences;
Assist with the development and documentation of science programming to support the vision, mission and core values of TWOSE;
Contribute to the development and maintenance of TWOSE procedures;
Be responsible for the care, safe use, and inventory of activity materials?and exhibit spaces;
Ensure program components are set up and all areas are cleaned appropriately;
Operate various computer and electronic equipment used in the galleries and theatres (including What's Happening screens and other scheduling software);
Be a positive?role model and mentor for TWOSE team members and volunteers and thrive as part of?a?team of people with diverse backgrounds;
Ensure the galleries are well maintained by garnering and sharing feedback on operations or guest interactions and solving gallery issues;
Motivate, support, schedule, and train TWOSE Science Presenters and gallery volunteers to deliver consistent, enthusiastic science experiences;
Assist with the planning, logistics, and execution of events;
Perform weekend exhibit supervisor responsibilities including management of Science Presenters' and volunteers' daily activities, chairing daily debrief meetings, troubleshooting programming or exhibits operations as required; and
Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
Strong working knowledge of public interpretation and science communication techniques
Strong?public speaking or presenting skills?with the desire to share, collaborate, create,?and experiment with all ages and audiences
An outgoing personality with the ability to adapt quickly and readily to learn new skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Deep discipline-specific knowledge of biology, physiology, and related health sciences
An ability to provide positive leadership and mentorship for a dynamic and diverse team
Degree/certificate in Education, Science, Science Communication or similar field is preferred (for example: Biology, Engineering, Indigenous Studies, etc.). A combination of other education and experience will be considered.
Program development, strong research skills, and supervisory experience is an asset.
3 to 5 years of experience with audience engagement in an informal learning environment. Specific training in one or more of TELUS World of Science - Edmonton's exhibits or spaces is preferred.

A clean Police Information Check including the vulnerable sector is a condition of employment for successful candidates. The check must be completed prior to commencement of work and is the financial responsibility of the candidate.
Wages:
$48,095.19-$59,951.58 per year based on 2025-2028 Collective Agreement with Civic Service Union 52 (pay scale 140).
Hours of Work:
Must have full-time availability. Requires availability on at least one weekend day per week. Regular shifts would total 37.5 hours weekly or 75 hours biweekly.
