The Role




Reporting to the

Operations Manager (Grande Prairie)

, the Project Manager Lead oversees the planning and execution of a diverse portfolio of underground utility and earthworks projects across residential, commercial, and municipal sectors.


This is a true

player-coach

role. In addition to providing leadership, mentorship, and oversight for the Project Management group, the Project Manager Lead will personally manage several complex projects, driving scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety from award through close-out. This role sets the standard for project delivery discipline, accountability, and client experience across the Grande Prairie operation.

How You'll Add Value



Actively contribute to a strong safety culture by supporting safe practices across both underground and earthworks operations Provide leadership across a portfolio of underground infrastructure and earthworks projects, including grading, mass excavation, and Alberta Transportation-spec civil work Independently manage assigned projects while also providing oversight and technical leadership to other Project Managers and Coordinators Act as the primary escalation point for project risks, client concerns, change management, and technical challenges Support and mentor the PM team through coaching, project reviews, and hands-on problem solving Establish and enforce consistent project delivery standards across underground and earthworks scopes, including cost control, scheduling, documentation, and reporting Lead risk reviews, progress meetings, and cost-to-complete forecasting Work closely with Field Operations, Estimating, and Engineering to ensure strong handoffs, constructability, and execution alignment Conduct site visits to ensure work complies with specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards Build strong working relationships with municipalities, Alberta Transportation, consultants, subcontractors, and clients

What You Bring



5+ years of progressive project management experience in

underground utilities, civil infrastructure, and/or earthworks

Strong background in projects involving

deep utilities, grading, excavation, mass earthworks, and municipal or Alberta Transportation specifications

CET, Construction Project Management Degree, P.Eng., or trade background in civil construction (or an equivalent combination of experience and education) Demonstrated ability to both

lead a team and personally deliver projects

in a high-accountability environment Solid understanding of excavation, shoring, dewatering, utility installation, and heavy civil earthworks operations Proven ability to manage cost, schedule, subcontractors, and client expectations Strong communication, organization, and documentation discipline Valid Class 5 Driver's License with acceptable abstract
