Job Description


PEI Bag Company is seeking a highly-skilled and detail-oriented Lead Press Operator to join our printing Department. The Lead Press Operator (LPO) will be responsible for the oversight, job setup, operation, and operational maintenance of our two flexographic printing presses, 2024 Koenig & Bauer XG, and a 2010 KBA Flexotecnica FX8. The ideal candidate will ensure that our printed products meet high-quality standards and production deadlines.Location: Central Bedeque, Prince Edward IslandReports To: Press ManagerKey Responsibilities
Setup and Operation:

  • Prepare our printing presses for operation by setting up and adjusting press components, including rollers, feeders, and printing plates.
  • Operate the press to produce printed paper bags according to specifications and production schedules.
  • Optimize press runs for best quality and speed, before handing off to press operators.
Quality Control:
  • Monitor the printing process to ensure consistent quality and accuracy.
  • Inspect printed products for defects and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality standards.
  • Perform regular quality checks and document results.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
  • Coordinate routine maintenance and cleaning of the printing press to ensure optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical issues that may arise during production.
  • Coordinate with maintenance personnel for more complex repairs and preventive maintenance.
Record Keeping and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of production runs, including material usage, output, and any issues encountered.
  • Report production data and any discrepancies to the Press Manager.
Safety and Compliance:
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures as well as industry regulations.
Hours:
  • The hours of work for this position will be 6am \xe2\x80\x93 2pm, Monday to Friday.
  • These hours may transition to a later shift of 8am \xe2\x80\x93 4pm once the new Koenig & Bauer press is installed, and training is completed.
  • Some overtime may be required based on production demands.

Compensation:
  • $22.00 - $28.00 per hour based on qualifications and experience.
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience operating printing presses is required.
  • Familiarity with Koenig & Bauer XG printing press or similar high-end printing equipment is highly desirable.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work efficiently under tight production deadlines.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in printing technology is an asset.
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Standing for extended periods and performing repetitive tasks.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
