What You Will Work On
As part of the Spiritual Life and Strategic Partnerships Team (SLSP) and a credential holder with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada (PAOC), the Lead Pastor of The Church in the Village (CITV) provides visionary leadership and spiritual oversight to an interdenominational evangelical congregation located within Shepherd Village--a Christian retirement and long-term care community. This role is responsible for preaching, pastoral care, and the church's broader community presence, playing a key part in cultivating the spiritual life and Christ-centred culture of the Village. The Lead Pastor brings a compassionate pastoral heart, with strengths in caregiving, visitation, and spiritual support. As an effective communicator and collaborative team leader, the individual thrives in a structured, multi-disciplinary environment and works closely with other departments to serve residents, families, and staff with excellence.

How You'll Create Impact
Serve as the primary preacher/teacher for Sunday services, offering biblically sound, Spirit-led, and relevant messages at our weekly services.
Oversee and implement the Strategic Spiritual Pathway and Assimilation Plan with the support of the Spiritual Life team.
Champion spiritual care and formation - worship and discipleship - across the Village, through weekly Bible studies, prayer gatherings, and hymn sing programs.
Track and document visits and interactions with residents (including hospital and rehab visits), noting spiritual, social, or emotional needs to support total care planning and compliance standards.
Minister to the families of residents, offering care and support during illness, end-of-life, or crisis situations.
Provide grief and palliative support to residents, families, and staff; be available for staff support and informal counselling.
Engage in outreach efforts to support residents and community members in need through the SLSP's Benevolent Ministry.
Collaborate with the Senior Flicks team (Communications Network) to support the production of video content for the residents, ensuring that the materials are spiritually uplifting and engaging.
Build and nurture relationships with local churches, clergy, and community organizations to foster shared ministry and visibility.
What Are Your Skills and Experience
Demonstrated leadership skills and collaborative approach to ministry service.
Keen awareness and appreciation of the interdenominational reality of Shepherd Village, as well as multi-faith sensitivities and competencies.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills (verbal/written/listening) oriented toward serving the spiritual needs and challenges of the mature adult and their families, in groups or one-to-one.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills - gifts in preaching, teaching, and worship leadership.
Strong computer and tech skills, particularly some familiarity with Office 365 and live-streaming and visual presentation programs (e.g. Presenter, OBS, YouTube etc.)
Able to work on own initiative with minimal supervision. Self-motivated.
Able to independently prioritize work responsibilities while maintaining a high degree of efficiency.
Cooperative and flexible team player, able to build and maintain positive working relationships.
Must be a PAOC credential holder.
Proven experience in pastoral ministry, particularly with seniors or intergenerational communities.
Long-term care chaplaincy experience is an asset.
MUST be qualified to work in Canada legally for Shepherd Village.
