Lead Maintenance Electrician

Job Description

A lead electrician plans and coordinates electrical projects, leading a team to install, test, and troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment while ensuring compliance with codes and safety standards. Key responsibilities include preparing material lists, collaborating with various stakeholders, providing technical input on designs, and maintaining a tidy and safe work environment. This role is a leadership position that requires extensive experience and technical knowledge beyond that of a journeyman electrician.

Key Responsibilities



Project Planning & Coordination:

Develop project workflows, prepare material lists, and orders necessary supplies.

Team Leadership:

Guide and oversee the work of an electrical team, ensuring tasks are completed as assigned.

Installation & Repair:

Install, assembly, test, and repair of electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices, and related equipment.

Code Compliance:

Ensure all electrical installations meet or exceed relevant electrical codes, safety standards, and client expectations.

Troubleshooting:

Actively identify and resolve issues with electrical systems and equipment to ensure optimal performance.

Collaboration:

Work closely with installation teams, utility companies, and inspectors.

Inventory Management:

Maintain adequate inventory of consumables and ensure equipment is readily available.

Site and equipment Inspections:

Conduct site inspections to ensure work quality and safety. Set priorities and work assignments to meet established deadlines. Perform diagnostics, repair, maintain, service and install equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications. Adhere to all safety rules and procedures and relevant regulatory requirements. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all modern equipment and regulations. Ensuring workplace safety by following WorkSafeBC safe working guidelines, with safety at the forefront of your decision-making. Interpret and work from electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings. Inspect electrical components, equipment, and systems to ensure safe operation. Lead, supervise, and train apprentices and journeyman electricians. Coordinate with contractors, clients, and other tradespeople to ensure timely project completion. Stay up to date with industry trends, new technologies, and safety regulations. Perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment to minimize downtime Troubleshoot, repair, and test motors, PLCs, drives, and control panels

Qualification and Experience

Instrumentation experience is an asset Master Electrician certification is an asset Red seal Industrial electrician Experience with wiring, panel installation, motors, transformers, and troubleshooting electrical systems. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical ability to perform electrical work, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces. Must have a class 5 driver's license with clean drivers abstract. Experience in Refrigeration, HVAC, Plumbing, and Mechanics an asset.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $45.00-$47.00 per hour
