Job Description


The Lead, Learning & Development will work in partnership with client groups across OMERS and Oxford, to evaluate business needs and recommend learning solutions to enhance enterprise, function and job specific capabilities. The role is part of the Learning & Development team in the Human Resources department and reports to the Director, Workforce Planning & Development.

This role is responsible for the needs assessment, design, development, and evaluation of learning programs in a fast-paced, diverse environment. The role is also accountable for supporting the L&D managers, other projects on the team, facilitation, reporting in support of the HR Learning & Development function.

As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:

  • Intake and build out of multiple training projects across any enterprise function
  • Consult and partner with client managers and key stakeholders to assess needs and plan aligned learning solutions, identify gaps and recommend process and program improvements to deliver on business objectives
  • Influence stakeholders and advocate for learners by championing learning culture objectives and ensuring adult learning principles are upheld across audiences.
  • Lead the development and implementation of learning strategies and programs to develop critical skills and capabilities
  • Evaluate and complete internal sign-off on learning artifacts, ensuring that high standards are met, the process is properly documented, and the right resources engaged.
  • Support Learning & Development managers with larger, more complex projects
  • Facilitate training sessions in person and virtually \xe2\x80\x93 typically below the executive level
  • Coordinate proposals and evaluations for vendor selection and contracting; track vendor performance
  • Conduct quality assurance assessments on learning experiences and provide trends and insights
  • Evaluate and measure business impact of learning programs and present recommendations to business leaders
  • Lead the implementation of recommendations that result from business impact evaluation.
  • Design, develop, implement, evaluate and program manage blended learning solutions that are engaging, innovative and highly visual
  • Create mock-ups, scripts, or storyboards for learning, including video, e-learning, articles, job aids, learning environments, etc.
  • Work collaboratively with team members, subject matter experts and key stakeholders to establish objectives and goals of learning programs, and ensure the accessible and timely delivery of all learning solutions
  • Track and report on training activities to ensure program effectiveness; gather and analyze data to identify opportunities to improve/enhance learning experiences
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of related systems and technology, including learning management system, e-learning libraries, and collaboration tools
  • Maintain your external network to understand the competitive landscape, and keep abreast of industry developments, including new technology solutions and trends
  • Support increased utilization of learning programs and platforms
  • Conduct regular reporting and metrics of the L&D function
To succeed in this role, you:
  • University Degree in adult education, instructional design, education or related field
  • 5+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience a Learning or related HR role
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with high attention to detail and proven ability to prioritize competing demands and priorities
  • Strong communications skills (listening, verbal, written, presentation preparation and delivery), including engaging with senior stakeholders
  • Ability to consult, advise and influence senior stakeholders
  • Ability to manage medium scale projects with much autonomy
  • Interpersonal agility, with the ability to collaborate and influence multiple stakeholders at all levels
  • Intellectual curiosity that drives you to generate creative, innovative solutions
  • Fully proficient in Microsoft Office products including Word, PowerPoint, MS Teams and SharePoint
  • Certifications/experience in Learning Design or Facilitation is an asset
  • Knowledge of Workday Learning is an asset
  • Knowledge of agile learning principles, design thinking and UX design is an asset
  • Demonstrated expertise leveraging innovative learning technologies including social, mobile, micro-learning and gamification is an asset
