Job Description

Position: LEAD IMPORT COORDINATOR

As a Lead Import Coordinator

,

you will work in a cohesive team environment as an integral part of our Global Sourcing Department.

You will be expected to lead, administer and support the complete Supply Chain process as it relates to orders that fall under our family of MultiCraft brands, as well as Private label items for our large chain store customers. Your function will include but is not limited to:

Assist in the preparation of samples and pricing information for sales presentations to potential clients.

Prepare final samples and artwork for customer review and approval.

Liaise between the factories and /or agents regarding status of production process from start to finish and insure that projects stay on track and meet identified timing thresholds.

Review Preproduction and Production samples for Quality standards, and obtain buyer approval where required.

Assist managing the Vendor base, in Asia, North America and other countries and facilitate all product and pricing related matters with each Vendor / Factory.

Providing instructions, guidelines, policies and feedback to suppliers as required.

Review and approve all related documentation relating to transactions including purchase orders, commercial invoices, shipping documents, terms and conditions and compliance manuals.

Research and become familiar with the sample preparation and approval process, artwork preparation process and logistics process for each chain.

Liaising with other departments within the organization to ensure projects are completed. (Graphics, Quality Assurance and Logistics for example).

Collaborate with our sales team to identify specific sales opportunities for each Chain store customer.

Liaise with our Quality Assurance and Compliance Team to insure that items requiring Third party testing or Lab certifications are in fact tested in a timely manner and that Compliance is confirmed for each item.

Develop and maintain Product Flow Charts for each chain, depending on their specific requirements.

In addition to the above, candidate may be asked to occasionally visit trade shows in the Asia and abroad visit factory showrooms and production facilities, assist in the process of arranging overseas shipments, establish and maintain our overseas vendor relations, communicate effectively with our worldwide vendor partners , and with our sales team members.

For the effective performance of your duties, you will be expected to possess the following qualities:



Quick learner, intelligent, solid instincts, ability to work well with others, good communicator, exceptional computer skills in Outlook and Excel, ability to solve problems, ability to begin, manage and finish multiple projects simultaneously, extremely organized, ability to manage and organize a heavy flow of information, ability to work under pressure, good use of memory, able to work extended hours when deadlines or workload require it.

Prerequisites



Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Administration or Supply Chain is required.

Min. 3-5 years' experience in Supply Chain, specifically, Experience with importing consumer products from Asia and distribution to Chain Stores or Key accounts.

Experience in an Administrative capacity that requires management of a heavy work load and ability to multi task many projects simultaneously.

Ability to travel internationally to attend trade fairs outside Canada if required.

Be located in or willing to relocate permanently in the Ottawa area.

Qualified candidates must reside in Canada and hold a status that allows them to work in Canada, such as a valid work Visa or valid permanent resident application.

8 hour working days, Monday through Friday.
