Lead Hand in Training

who's ready to learn the trade, master our systems, and grow into running their own crew.

for someone who's willing to put in the work, learn from experienced mentors, and eventually take the lead on projects across Western Canada.

Your First Season Will Look Like This:

Work side-by-side with our experienced foremen and crew leads to learn fencing from the ground up -- livestock, residential, and commercial. Gain hands-on experience running tools, installing posts and rails, and solving on-site challenges. Learn how to safely operate and maintain trucks, trailers, skid steers, tractors, and other equipment. Understand how we plan, schedule, and organize each job to keep things running smoothly. Build leadership skills by taking on small crew responsibilities as you progress.

Your near term future:

Lead small teams on simpler projects. Make key decisions on site with confidence. Mentor new crew members. Prepare for a full Lead Hand or Foreman role in your next season with Prairie Fence.

What We're Looking For:

A strong work ethic, grit, and reliability -- you show up on time, ready to go. Willingness to learn, take feedback, and work in all Alberta weather. Natural leadership qualities -- even if you haven't run a crew before, people listen to you. Mechanical aptitude and comfort with tools and equipment (or a desire to learn).

Must Haves:

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to our Parkland County HQ (52221 Range Road 24). English fluency. Willingness to travel for out-of-town work when needed.

What We Offer:

Full-Time Hours

- Monday-Friday (7am start), overtime available, occasional Saturdays.

Starting Pay

- $28-$35/hour depending on experience, plus overtime (1.5x) and performance bonuses.

Training & Mentorship

- Direct guidance from experienced foremen to fast-track your leadership skills.

Career Path

- Move from training into a Lead Hand role, then a Foreman role, as you prove yourself.

Seasonal or Year-Round

- Seasonal (8-9 months) with opportunities for winter work.
