The primary role of a Carpenter/Laborer is to safely perform tasks involving physical labor on construction sites in accordance to the Award Health and Safety program. May operate hand and power tools of all types, clean and prepare sites for work, and work along side other craft workers to complete tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education Required: none
Preferred: Lift Protection & Fall Protection Certification
. Class 5 Drivers License
Experience Required: none
Preferred: 1+ years commercial construction experience
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Hard working, determination, fast learning, works well as a team, follows instruction well, willing and able to learn new tasks, shows initiative, thinks ahead and is proactive.
Mental Aptitude: Ability to work well in stressful and demanding environments.
Physical Aptitude: Excellent stamina required, ability to lift heavy equipment and materials not in excess of 50 lbs, ability to operate power tools. Body positions: Standing, sitting, working, reaching, bending, kneeling. Vision: Sufficiently corrected vision for reading written documentation and plans.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Award Construction Laborers report directly to their Foreman.
AUTHORITY
Responsible for themselves as a representative of Award Construction.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Follow all safety procedures as laid out by Award Constructions Safety Program. Report any incidents, unsafe acts or conditions to supervisor immediately.
Complete tasks as directed accurately and in a timely matter
Identify hazards by completing the Field Level Hazard Assessment before commencing work daily, and as required by the Field Level Hazard Assessment Policy. Find corrective actions, and execute tasks safely.
Operate a variety of hand and power tools.
Clean and prepare construction sites as needed, including erecting scaffolding, removing and properly disposing of debris and waste materials.
Load and unload construction supplies from trucks both manually and with the use of equipment.
Assist carpenters and other craftsman in construction tasks.
Assemble heating and hoarding structures.
Controlled existing structure demolition and teardown.
May work near or with chemicals, cranes, and moving equipment.
Assist in planning and execution of traffic control devices and measures.
Working on roofs or at heights.
Working indoors and outdoors as required.
Duties will vary depending on previous work experience and necessity.

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
