What you can expect from this position:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Airport Bussing, this position is responsible for leading and providing guidance for a team of Airport Bus Drivers and being involved in performing all related bussing tasks on the movement and maneuvering areas, and groundside infrastructure, including ad hoc bussing duties including corporate sponsored events and tours, and acts as lead driver for ad hoc operations involving multiple busses, coordinating vehicle and task assignment.


As a Lead Hand, Airport Bussing, you will:




Provide firsthand technical guidance to assigned team. This includes knowledge sharing, on-the-job training and troubleshooting. Support and assist the Supervisor. Ensure appropriate action is taken to deliver on day of requests by the Supervisor, Bussing Manager and Planning & Support Supervisor. Assist in collecting information pertaining to performance measurement of equipment and processes. Provide input to the Supervisor regarding action plans to deal with planned and demand operations. Identify shortfalls that may impact the daily plan in expedient manner. Coach crew members and work with them to put in place best practices. Provide immediate support during live bussing operations. Provide technical guidance and leadership in the completion of required operational and project tasks. Ensure work is completed to a high standard and in priority sequence as delegated by the Supervisor. Act as the Liaison between the drivers, the airline being served and the Supervisor to ensure the highest level of service to our stakeholders. Act as a Customer Service agent to the travelling public ensuring they are supported throughout their journey by being informed to respond to questions, provide direction and offer information on the bussing process Attend internal/external meetings as required. Ensure that all staff are working in a safe manner and in line with SOPs, standard work methods. Complete Job Safety Assessments prior to undertaking assignments. Review hazards of assigned tasks. Support the Supervisor in ensuring all employees are properly trained for all tasks as well as regulatory requirements. This includes delivery of equipment training, safety training, and policy and procedure training. Identify training shortfalls to the Unit Specialist for inclusion in the Training Plan. Provide input/feedback to the Supervisor regarding staff performance including exemplary performance, and shortfalls/deficiencies. Provide input to the Supervisor on performance of new staff and any other circumstances where feedback may be required with respect to training and technical abilities. Assist in ensuring that all equipment inspections are performed as required. Support Supervisor in taking action on any items that require additional attention. Conduct daily inspections, and cleaning on all busses and support equipment and vehicles being utilized. Includes maintaining cleanliness of assigned facilities such as the Bussing Facility, IFC. Acts as an SME to troubleshoot first-level issues with stakeholders.

This unionized position is classified at the Band 6 level, with an hourly wage of $41.72, based on a 40 hour work week. As part of the recruitment process, you will be required to complete a test. This is the role for you, if you have:




Minimum 2 years' experience in heavy equipment/bussing operation in an airport environment Demonstrated Leadership experience Must possess a valid CZ Provincial Driver's Licence (or higher) and must maintain a CZ Provincial Drivers' License with appropriate medical. Ability to obtain CPR and Defib certification Must have secondary school diploma Ability to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance

Ability to write and speak English fluently Leadership, coaching and mentoring skills Effective decision-making skills-ability to quickly identify a problem and implement a solution Strong communication skills both written and oral Ability to work on a computer, including familiarity with Outlook, I-share, Microsoft Office, and R/MAX Excellent organizational skills Knowledge of Pearson Bussing Operations, support equipment, technology, and policies and applicable aviation standards pertaining to the bussing operation Ability to prioritize assignments for self and others within a team environment Ability to interpret and apply plans, policies and procedures Multi-tasking is required to deal with multiple radios communications, emails, and face to face interactions with employees and stakeholders Knowledge of GTAA IMS principles and procedures and the ability to utilize a handheld radio for reporting purposes Able to work outside in all types of weather Ability to lift varied amounts of weight Knowledge of the operation, mechanics, inspection and regular maintenance of busses Knowledge of airfield and groundside layout Knowledge of spills containment procedures Extensive knowledge of GTAA bus routes both Airside and Groundside for normal and Irrops bussing operations Extensive knowledge of the bussing equipment (busses, ebusses and diesel, AVI-Ramps, airstairs, gse, medi-lift etc.)
