Position Summary





Kingfisher Heliskiing seeks passionate, professional Lead Guides to join our team. This role requires a fully certified Ski or Mountain Guide with exceptional technical and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate possesses at least five years of heli-ski experience and is either a Revelstoke resident or willing to relocate to the area from December through March. This is a full-time, seasonal position earning a daily wage between $450 & $600 plus gratuity, depending on experience, qualifications, and services offered.


Position Purpose





The Lead Guide exercises daily operational oversight of one or more heli-ski groups. This includes a leadership role in AM and PM meetings, pre-flight logistical preparation, field management of heli-ski groups, and post-trip coordination with the hospitality team. Lead Guides are accountable for operational risk management, guest satisfaction, and the leadership of Tail Guides and other staff that may be involved in heli-ski operations.


Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks





Leadership & Operations


Exercise daily operational oversight of one or more heli-ski groups Lead morning and evening team meetings Manage pre-flight logistical preparation and post-trip coordination Provide leadership and mentoring to Tail Guides and junior staff Collaborate with aviation teams on operational decisions Coordinate with hospitality teams to ensure seamless guest experiences

Safety & Risk Management


Risk management oversight of heli-ski operations Conduct, supervise, and delegate helicopter and avalanche safety briefings. Maintain full situational and operational awareness Manage emergent and non-emergent incidents, including avalanche, medical, and technical rescue scenarios Ensure compliance with internal protocols, HeliCat Canada (HCC) guidelines, and relevant guiding scopes of practice

Guest Experience & Communication


Plan and deliver exceptional guest experiences Maintain proactive communication with guests and guide teams Monitor all radio and electronic communications Provide real-time and daily reporting to the Operations Manager

Documentation & Administration


Collect and record daily weather, snowpack, and avalanche observations Track daily flight hours and provide operational efficiency feedback Support daily record-keeping and operational documentation Maintain detailed knowledge of rescue and fueling resources

Training & Development


Support pre-season and ongoing training initiatives Participate in professional development programs Contribute to team knowledge sharing and best practices

Qualifications





Certifications and Training


IFMGA Mountain Guide, ACMG Ski Guide, CSGA Level 3, or equivalent CAA Avalanche Operations Level 2 or equivalent Current 80-hour first aid certificate

Experience & Skills


Minimum 5 years of heli-ski experience High-level operational risk management skills Advanced weather and avalanche forecasting capabilities Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills Proven mentoring and training experience Excellent teamwork and dynamic decision-making abilities High-level self and social awareness

Special Position Requirements




Strong work ethic, teamwork, and decision-making skills High-level self and social awareness Guiding in complex avalanche terrain Helicopter operations Rescue operations

Preferences




Professional avalanche forecasting and/or mitigation experience Geographically diverse work experience Experience working with high-end clientele Revelstoke residency from November through April

Work Requirements




Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or work visa Expert skiing or snowboarding skills Ability to work all day in extreme winter weather environments * Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly
