The Lead Foreman is a working supervisor responsible for overseeing daily operations across excavation and concrete construction projects, including residential, commercial, industrial, and civil works. This leadership role requires strong technical knowledge, safety compliance, and crew management skills to ensure projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to high quality standards. The Lead Foreman will also work closely with management and ownership to align field operations with company goals and expectations.

Site Leadership & Supervision

Supervise and lead crews in excavation and concrete work.

Plan and assign daily work tasks to optimize crew productivity.

Serve as the on-site point of contact for team members, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Check in regularly on job sites to ensure efficiency and progress.

Schedule and allocate crews based on project needs.

Identify and implement effective solutions for project complications.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of job sites, yard, and shop.

Provide mentorship and guidance to new and developing crew members.

Project Execution

Read and interpret drawings, site plans, and technical documentation.

Oversee all phases of excavation, formwork, batching, reinforcing steel, and concrete pouring.

Ensure work meets all specifications, tolerances, and quality standards.

Coordinate project scheduling, material deliveries, and crew mobilization.

Operate equipment and tools as required.

Perform general site, shop, and administrative duties as needed.

Assist with operational tasks for affiliate companies.

Proactively seek opportunities for project upselling and business development.

Safety & Compliance

Enforce job site safety protocols per OH&S and WorkSafeBC regulations.

Conduct daily safety briefings and equipment checks.

Address hazards and incidents immediately; complete and submit safety reports.

Lead and document all required safety meetings (daily FLHA, pre-job, weekly/monthly tailgates).

Ensure safety documentation, training certificates, maintenance records, and insurance documents are up to date and accessible.

Keep Workhub and other safety systems current.

Communication & Coordination

Coordinate with project managers, operators, and subcontractors.

Schedule and verify availability of tools, equipment, and materials.

Communicate project progress, issues, and delays clearly and promptly.

Maintain regular communication with management regarding daily operations.

Assist with marketing and social media efforts.

Order, pick up, and deliver supplies and materials as needed.

Quality Control

Inspect trench slopes, excavation depths, compaction, formwork, and concrete finishes.

Ensure all work meets building codes, engineering specifications, and company standards.

Address and resolve workmanship issues quickly.

Communicate effectively with clients to ensure satisfaction.

Provide photo updates to management.

Reporting & Documentation

Complete daily job reports including crew hours, materials used, and progress updates.

Track project costs daily and include in job reports.

Submit all required documentation daily (FLHAs, inspections, timesheets, etc.).

Complete and submit monthly reports, inventory logs, batching forms, and safety documentation.

Assist with final project walkthroughs and ensure client satisfaction.

Create job estimates from client details and obtain management approval before presenting.

Participate in weekly operational meetings with management.

Training & Crew Development

Mentor crew members in best practices for excavation and concrete work.

Provide feedback, conduct evaluations, and recommend training.

Ensure all employees maintain valid safety and training certifications.

Pursue ongoing learning through courses, seminars, and industry resources to enhance leadership capabilities.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years' experience in excavation and concrete work.

Prior experience supervising crews in a construction environment.

Strong knowledge of OH&S and WorkSafeBC safety standards.

Ability to read technical drawings and plans.

Proficient in project coordination and documentation.

Valid class 5 driver's license. Class 1 or 3 considered an asset.

Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Equipment operating experience. Operators certification considered an asset..

Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 9 months

Pay: $25.00-$40.00 per hour
